Let This Mind Be in You
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God; But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant." ( Philippians 2:5-7). What does a servant do? A servant goes beyond the requirements! Jesus Himself set the pattern for such servanthood during His earthly ministry. And Philippians 2:5-7 exhorts us to follow His example.
As a servant or handmaiden our attitude must be, "Not my will, but thine be done." (Luke 22:42). We will say, "We don't care what it takes, we choose to obey God." True servants and handmaidens aren't interested in doing only what God requires. True servants and handmaidens want to be totally committed to God and His Word. They want everything they do to be governed by Him. And as a result, God rewards them. He entrusts to them the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He anoints them, and allows them to do great exploits in His name. If we want God to entrust His gifts to us so that we can do great exploits in His name, then we must first be willing to become a servant or handmaiden... one who goes beyond the requirements. "I choose to be a servant or a handmaiden of God. I will do whatever it takes to please God in every area of my life ."
